Welcome to Prince of Wales Island, Alaska!
Whether coming to Prince of Wales Island for work or for play, you simply must take the time to get out on the water! Most island residents spend more time on the water than land-and for good reason-its a lot of fun out there! There are whales, sea lions, sea otters, seals, sea birds, beautiful scenery, and never-ending remote vistas. Book with us and enjoy a trip you will never forget!
Prince of Wales Island is located in southern southeast Alaska, about 70 miles west of Ketchikan. This fourth largest island in the US is over 2500 square miles but is home to just about 5000 residents, dispersed throughout tiny logging and commercial fishing communities. It is even its own sub-archipelago, called the Prince of Wales Archipelago (which is part of the larger Alexander archipelago which encompasses all of southeast Alaska.) The islands, bays, inlets, and channels provide for endless opportunities to explore and play.
We offer small customized tours for 3-4 people. This small size allows for a great amount of flexibility with each days tour. We can go wherever time, weather, and the activity of whales dictate we should go for the day. The west coast of Prince of Wales Island offers a maze of inlets, channels, islands and bays to explore. You are almost guaranteed to see whales, sea otters, eagles, and a diversity of other wildlife.
We are permitted by the US Forest Service to go ashore in many locations for shore hikes, beach-combing, tide-pooling and bonfires.
With our extensive knowledge about local flora and fauna, commercial fishing, and history, you will have a comprehensive experience and learn a lot about the region and of course, have fun!
